Local news works best when it isn't a one-way broadcast. So WDIV Local 4 and Metro Detroit's Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Co. built a place where the two actually meet — a working café that doubles as a newsroom's front porch.
Pour-overs and press passes share the same counter. Journalists pull up a chair for open conversations and story tips, neighbors swap what's happening on the community board, and Kyla's beat films the moments that make Plymouth, Plymouth.
Great Lakes Coffee is served all day. The rest — the questions, the stories, the corner-table conversations — is what makes Fourgrounds more than a café.
